Ancient giant dolphin discovered in the Amazon

And though there are Amazonian freshwater dolphin species alive today, they aren’t close kin to that ancient cetacean. There’s the South Asian river dolphin (Platanista genus) and the Amazon river dolphin (Inia genus), also known as the pink river dolphin, and the two groups include several species and subspecies. Researchers discovered the Amazonian dolphin fossil in 2018, near the Napo River in Loreto, Peru. At first, they thought it would turn out to be an ancient relative of modern Amazonian river dolphins. “That was a moment where everybody freaked out, because it wasn’t an Amazonian river dolphin,” Benites-Palomino said.

Wall Street is not pleased that Under Armour founder Kevin Plank is returning as its CEO. Following the announcement, both Williams Trading and Evercore ISI downgraded Under Armour and lowered their price targets. Linnartz, a former Marriott International executive who took the helm last February, is the second CEO the company has cycled through in less than two years. Since she started at Under Armour, Linnartz had been focused on rehauling the company's C-suite, building out its loyalty program, UA Rewards, and pivoting the brand's assortment to a more athleisure-focused offering that had more stylish options for women. "All of the twists and turns have created a brand that has become increasingly confusing to consumers and to wholesale partners," Saunders continued.

The Shein pants (left) fit more loosely, while the Amazon pants (middle) and Temu pants (right) were an awkward tight fit. The Shein and Temu hair clips were identical and smaller than they appeared in the listing photos. But when I attempted the return, Shein didn't give me a shipping label and processed an immediate refund instead.

Despite their vastly differing personal styles and occupations, they have all been spotted in a pair of Gucci horsebit loafers. In mid-June, coinciding with the menswear shows at Milan Fashion Week, Gucci will stage an exhibition celebrating the legacy of its signature loafer. In 1974, George H. W. Bush wore a pair of horsebit loafers to meet then-President Gerald Ford. Through the decadesThe success of Gucci’s horsebit loafers has been far-reaching, and the secret to their ongoing relevance may lie in the shoe’s versatility. The horsebit loafer is Gucci’s answer to the near-philosophical question: What shoes do I wear?

I am deeply aware of the fact that my view of the natural world is colored by my home place. But I don’t think that’s the same as romanticizing nature. Of course the natural world is full of forces that are so-called destructive. The story that we have to illuminate is that we don’t have to be complicit with destruction.
It was totally avoidable.”Now, Bolsonaro is in Orlando, where he has supporters among the state's growing number of Brazilian Americans. After Bolsonaro's loss, unfounded claims of election fraud, reminiscent of those in the U.S., began to surface in Brazil. Bannon had said prior to the Brazilian election that Bolsonaro would lose only if “the machines” steal the election. Leading to the presidential elections in Brazil, Trump allies exported many of the former president's campaign strategies to the Latin American country. After Bolsonaro's October loss, tens of thousands of supporters began camping outside military facilities throughout Brazil to protest his loss.
The ongoing FTX fallout — and bankruptcies earlier this year for lenders Celsius Network and Voyager Digital — is teaching crypto investors a hard lesson about their protections relative to more traditional asset classes. Le Bernardin at 50: Still Going Strong

Fifty years ago this October, on Paris’s Left Bank, two siblings in their 20s opened Le Bernardin, a small seafood restaurant named after an order of monks who were also firm believers in the pleasures of the table. It would go on to expand to New York City and establish itself as one of the world’s most acclaimed dining destinations. “I guess it lasted,” says Maguy Le Coze, who co-founded Le Bernardin with her brother, Gilbert Le Coze, in 1972. Upstairs, a small legion of chefs, sous chefs, line cooks, sauciers, managers, captains, dedicated fish butchers and sommeliers, including the famed Aldo Sohm, is preparing for service. If the day proceeds as most usually do here, they will welcome up to 100 diners for lunch and another 160 for dinner.

Rome has special anti-takeover regulations or so-called "golden powers" to shield companies deemed of strategic importance from foreign interest. Marking a break with previous administrations, Prime Minister Mario Draghi's government has used golden powers to set conditions on scores of deals. The blossoming of parallel foreign exchange rates has gained pace in recent weeks, becoming the target of memes online, one calling the array a "tutti-frutti". But it also reflects a serious risk the government faces to protect dwindling dollar reserves needed to pay back debt. The government and central bank argue that the controls are needed to protect foreign reserves and stabilize the economy. "All these different exchange rates shows a political desperation for dollars," said Eduardo Maehler, 37, a self-employed worker in Buenos Aires. "We know the cost of imposing these controls over time: it always ends in a very deep crisis," he said.
